AHHHHHH!!!!! MONSTEEERRRRRRSSSSS!!!!!! Monsters...the subject of all small children's nightmares, and now the protagonists
of today's article. Today we're going to take a look at Star (Marvel)'s Inhumanoids #2. This comic book was published in March
1987, and based on a cartoon that was based on a line of the biggest most intimidating action figures I have ever seen.
Seeing as how this is the second part in the series, I'll fill you in on what happened last ish. I actually have no idea what
really happened, so I'll do my best to come up with something that could have really happened. The heroes of the story, The
Earth Corps, discovered a giant block of amber. Unbeknownst to them, there was a monster lurking inside. Sometime while the
amber block wasn't under close enough supervision, the evil Inhumanoid known as Tendril (he's a plant-monster), broke open
the block. Another Inhumanoid, this one named D'Compose, was freed from the amber. Okay, the last part of that actually happened
in issue #2. But whatever. So, Tendril and D'Compose go on to wreak havoc and cause mayhem on an unsuspecting human world.
They also are on a quest to free the third and most powerful Inhumanoid, Metlar. The Earth Corps, surely enough, try to stop
them. One of the Earth Corps, Liquidator, goes alone into the forest, while other members use a submarine to go underwater.
Real smart Liquidator. Oh yeah, he goes into the same forest that they found the amber block in. Anyway, Liquidator goes in
farther and farther until suddenly, (cue background music hinting impending doom) he notices that he's surrounded by trees.
Meanwhile, his underwater team mates get attacked by Tendril and D'Compose.
Well, needless to say, the Earth Corps ended up getting away from the monsters, but nobody even kicked the shit out of anybody.
Anyway, back to the forest. Suddenly, all the trees around Liquidator just animate. Of course Liquidator is scared, but he
talks to them. Then he gets numerous death-threats from the talking trees. The trees tell him that the Inhumanoids are their
ancient enemies. Then they tell him a bunch of other bullshit about how Metlar will destroy the Earth when he is awakened,
but nobody in their right mind would listen to a talking tree. Later, Liquidator tells the rest of the team that "I'm telling
you, the trees were talking--". But nobody believes him. Yet he still continues to insist that they were talking, at least
until--
Headquarters are under attack! Haha go Tendril! Anyway, the comic ends there.
